A new, much awaited model of Mercedes Benz is taking longer than anticipated to manufactured. The Mercedes EQG has unveiled in September 2018 and the plan is to produce it in 2024.​ Despite the wait, the EQG will cut out the need for a lithium-ion battery with silicon anode technology.

Early production testing proven promising, with earlier estimates of a 40% increase in energy density realized.

Automobiles are also making great progress with increasing battery density, meaning that all car manufacturers are actively working on increasing power in smaller packages and accommodating more passengers by offering more efficient vehicles.
